Yamunanagar, January 25: On the occasion of Republic Day, a webinar was organized by the civic club of Guru Nanak Girls College, Kautilya History Association with the courtesy of Ek Soch Nai Soch NGO. The main objective of which was to make the girl students clear about the importance of celebrating Republic Day. Program coordinator Prof Monica Chopra informed that this program was organized under the guidance of College Director Dr. Varindra Gandhi and Principal Dr. Anu Atreja. Prof. B. Madan Mohan, retired from MLN College, Yamunanagar, was present on the occasion as the keynote speaker. The chief speaker said that we got freedom after a long struggle. India is the largest democracy in the world. He told the students that Dada Bhai Narouji, Arvind Ghosh had an important contribution in the freedom movement. Bal Gangadhar Tilak popularized the slogan of Swarajya all over India. He told that on this day we remember the freedom fighters. We express our gratitude to the generals who sacrificed their lives for the security of the country. Yamunanagar, Jan 24 – NCC cadets, teachers and alumni of Guru Nanak Khalsa College today paid tribute to martyr Nishant Sharma. College Principal Dr (Major) Harinder Singh Kang said that on 24 January 2021 last year, Nishant Sharma had attained martyrdom on Akhnoor sector while protecting the country. The students and staff of the college had collected an amount of Rs 1,00,000 for Nishant Sharma’s family and gave this amount to his family. On this day as a tribute to the martyr Nishant Sharma, NCC cadets, alumni and staff posted Nishant Sharma’s picture as their status on social media and paid tribute to him.

Dr Kang told that Shaheed Nishant Sharma obtained C certificate from college in 2009 and after that he joined the army. Nishant Sharma was a resident of Saharanpur. Today, a blood donation camp has also been organized in Saharanpur by his family and friends, which will prove to be a true tribute to him. In the college, NCC cadets and staff presented flowers on the portrait of martyr Nishant Sharma and paid tribute to him. On this occasion NCC Officer Dr. (Left) Ramnik, Senior Under Officer Jonny Kamboj and Under Officer Pankaj Maurya, Sahadev, Shivani etc. were present among the students of the college. The head of the college management committee, Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar also paid tribute to the martyr Nishant Sharma.
