The Municipal Corporation has started the process for this. On Thursday, Mayor Madan Chauhan along with the corporation officials inspected the site earmarked for making an auto market near Chandpur bypass. There is a plan to build a market on 2.2 acres of land at a cost of about 2.49 crores. Mayor Chouhan along with Chief Sanitary Inspector Harjit Singh and Anil Nain and other officials reached here. During the inspection, he instructed the cleaning officers to thoroughly clean the site and remove the debris. Mayor Chouhan says that soon the work of setting up an auto market will be started here. With the creation of an auto market, the traffic system in the city will improve. Parking of vehicles on the roads will get rid of encroachment, as well as get rid of jams. Along with this, vehicle owners will also benefit. They will not have to wander here and there for vehicle repairs and their parts. With the creation of a market at one place, all these facilities will be available at one place.
Let us tell you that in the markets of Twin City, the service and repair of cars, autos, bikes and other vehicles is done on the side of the roads. Some shopkeepers repair vehicles on the roads itself. Due to this, there is a situation of jam due to encroachment on the roads. In many places, the footpaths of the roads are completely occupied by the shopkeepers. Vehicles are parked on the roads only. On the railway road from Sant Nirankari Bhawan to Civil Hospital, there are dozens of vehicles service and repair shops on both sides. There are more than half a dozen car service and repair shops in Rampura Colony. Similarly, there are shops for repairing tractors, bikes and other vehicles from Maharaja Agrasen Chowk to Budiya Chowk in Jagadhri. Apart from this, more than 500 vehicle service and repair work is done on many roads of the city including on Saharanpur Road in Old Hamida till Yamuna Canal Bridge and on Saharanpur Kurukshetra State Highway. Due to this, the situation of jam persists. To deal with this problem, it has been decided by the Municipal Corporation to set up an auto market. There is a plan to build four auto markets in Jagadhri and Yamunanagar. On Thursday, Mayor Chouhan inspected the site near Chandpur bypass.
